A really easy Photo Booth Diy tutorial

6. máj 2012

I really wish i'd thought of this earlier for my wedding, but decided to make it for my sons first birthday which is in less than a weeks time! i'll include some variations at the end.

What you need:

- 4 cardboard boxes or 2 very large boxes (that are bigger than you vertically)

- wallpaper, paint or something to cover the boxes

- tape or glue (i used no more nails)

- stuff to decorate you booth (i used photo frames, printed images etcra)

- a craft knife or something similar

- brackets (those used to hold up a curtain rail)

- a dowelling rod that is long enough for the rail at the top or a tube but nothing to heavy as it will fall off

- a piece of light weight fabric to make the curtain (i used a table cloth), needle and thread if your fabric doesnt have a hem.

- a polaroid camera ( see variations at the end if you want to use your existing camera or computer)

Optional if you want props:

- wooden sticks (i used bamboo stewers)

- props either bought, made or downloaded from the internet.

- glue

Instructions:

1) stick two boxes on top of each other or if you have large enough boxes that reach head height you can skip this step.

2) decorated your boxes, i used a wallpaper from B&Q but you could simply paint them! i used a frame on the front with instructions on how to use the booth. on the other booth i stuck on a strike a pose sign. in the inside of the booth (the wall behind you) i stuck printed photo frames for an interesting back drop.

3) on the booth that will take you photo you need to measure the eye level and where the camera lens will sit. I cut out a square and made a perch for the camera to sit (my camera doesn't have

4) where i cut out the square i stuck a frame for decoration and wrote smile above it.

5) Attach the brackets for the curtain

6) You may need to sew a hem on your fabric to thread your rod through.

7) attach your camera ( my camera's shutter is on the front so someone can press it whilst posing)

Optional for props:

8) You can download props from the internet or buy and make them! i used a bit of all three. I made a speech bubble which people could draw on with chalk. I downloaded some off the internet "oh happy days (http://ohhappyday.com/) - does some great downloads!" i bought some mustaches from the pound shop and an inflable sax.

9) stick your stewers onto your props with either tape or glue!

10) an Optional step! i made stickers for people to decorate their photo's with

11) snap happy !!

Varations:

- If you want something more robust you could make your booth with wooden frames

- if you want to use your exisiting digital camera just follow the same instructions but if you want instant photos your'll need a photo printer atatched to your camera or to save expense you could print them off at a later date.

- if your camera doesn't have a shutter button that is at the front you might need someone to take the photo's or get a shutter release button.

- the camera will be more secure if it's sat on a tripod since my polaroid desn't have a tripod strew i needed a perch (i simply used a cardboard box stuck on the inside at eye level).

All together including the Camera this cost about £120

Hope this is helpful any questions are welcome! x
