well i probably won't be going to another wedding fair after that- got a couple of ideas but just realised how overpriced a lot of stuff is and had to lie to everyone and say we were getting married locally lol!

  • meeeshelthe local ones are the best as you get suppliers etc near you. They're all quite different, some are better than others so I wouldn't let that put you off, it may just have been a not-so-good one! x

      yeah it was local just not for where we're planning and even then the bridal shops were about 50 miles away :S I was also getting annoyed by everyone saying ooh you better get a move on booking a venue and you better book us quick as we're very busy even though when they checked their diaries they were practically empty lol! I'll ry to go to one in north yorkshire so i can really have a better look! xx

      • bubs789I've had a stand at a wedding fayre today, the lady with the stand next to mine was practically dragging people over to look at her stuff. I couldn't believe how pushy she was.

          its actually stressed me out a bit- i know they were being dramatic but there is some truth to the fact that i need to get booking 😞 . I hate people being pushy

          • aislingDon't let it put you off - I've been to 2 so far, the first had some pretty pushy people but most were lovely, the second was local to our venue and was great.
            I got some great ideas from both fairs, I got the card for my invitations at the first one and have been in touch with the woman again since for more paper. At the second I met my hair and make-up person, she's fantastic!

            • meeeshel@sophie2bgillies  I really wouldn't panic yet - most people book a lot closer. I started to think I was booking too early as I had so many comments from venues of "ooh - you're organised!!" because I was looking 2 years ahead. And a lot said they didn't have their books open that far in advance! so don't get stressed they're probably just trying the hard sell - sounds like you went to a particularly bad fayre! x

                thanks girls 🙂 makes me feel better it just puts you off though doesn't it when its such a special day you're planning! i will relax a bit more now i think they were just pressuring everyone!

                • katiedarlindont worry we booked our venue with only 11 months to spare. i have also got my dress despite only having 10 months left they are just trying to get a sale
