Does anyone know how to change your name with the land registry for the deeds to your house? The website says I need to fill in a form but its so damn confusing I dont understand x
- trampyOMG! I dont understand that form either. I spoke to my friend about this and she hasnt bothered to do it. I'm waiting until we decide to move and let the solicitor deal with it all then.
- laraandsteveI hadn't even thought about this! I'd say it'll be fine though. I was talking to my landlord about my shop lease and we both reckon it's still legal in my maiden name as it'd be a nightmare to change everything over every time someone got married / divorced / sold their business etc (we were chatting about large businesses too) xx
- princess_sparkleAUTOR@trampy @laraandsteve Thanks Ladies, its only coz we were talking about how we wanna move within the next 2 years and I didnt want it to come to us moving and then be a problem because everything else is in my married name except the house.
- laraandsteveI do a lot of networking through the shop - next time I see a solicitor, I'll try and remember to ask the question then
x
- mrsegan2bIt's a nightmare. I haven't changed mine and I've been married for 18 months!
- trampy@princess_sparkle i think its alright to wait and let the solicitor do it all. they need to seriously sort that form out though! x
- caz27Legally your fine, your marriage certificate will be evidence enough hun. I work in mortgages and we see this quite often and we will always ask to see this to ensure your one and the same person. If you feel more comfortable though I would get a solicitor to get it changed on your behalf xx
- meeeshelDon't worry - we moved shortly after we married and house was still in my maiden name, solicitor just took a photocopy of our marriage cert and certified it then sent that off with everything. Our mortgage etc was all still in my maiden name!!
